When a tree comes down, the stump and root ball left behind are a whole separate problem. We're talking deep voids in the ground, tangled roots, and displaced soil that leaves your yard lumpy and unusable. That's exactly what we were dealing with on this job - multiple large trees pulled out root and all, leaving behind serious craters and mounded-up root masses that had to be cleared before any finish work could happen.
The root systems on these trees were massive. Pulling them out is only step one. Once the stumps and debris were cleared out, we brought in the CAT 279C skid steer to work the area - pushing soil back into the voids, breaking up the mounds, and getting the ground as level and workable as possible. That's the grading work most people don't think about until they're standing in front of a giant hole where a tree used to be.
Here's the thing about stump jobs - stopping at the removal is only halfway done. The yard still needs to be brought back to a usable state. After grading and leveling the area, we finished it off with fresh grass seed so the customer has a clean slate for the lawn to come back in. It's not flashy work, but it's the kind of finish detail that actually matters to the homeowner who has to live with it.
Most contractors will pull the stump and call it a day. We handle the full scope - land clearing, grading, and site prep - so the yard is ready for whatever comes next, whether that's a lawn, a patio, or just clean, flat usable space. If you've got an old stump sitting in your yard or some rough uneven ground that needs attention, that's exactly what we do.
